my friend Matt Dioguardi...

...lives and teaches in Japan. He thinks about the thought of Karl Popper. He writes poems. He takes close-up photographs of various flower blooms.

Matt said something about my poems. I like what he said. It's not only eloquently expressed, it's also significant to me.

It might be suggested you don't actually know what Eastern Europe is like in some ways, you haven't been there. Yet at the same time, you seem to know just how we want to view it – or how we are supposed to view it – or how we could potentially view it. How much this catches reality in some ways is almost besides the point, you've captured the how, which is important.
